It didn't come up with a name but people received the same calls and said it was a debt collecting company. The numbers are: 0843 713 0318 and

Is about the firmest instance of that I can find. Others say it's just listed as "contact centre" which could be anything to be honest.

Yeah they say that when you try to call back. I just wish they would go away once and for all! I don't like having this hanging over my head!

Anybody know for certain when the terms changed on the BPS site from 'you must email cancel@' to ' or telephone' etc ?

Up to at least the 20th June, it was the telephone/letter cancellation method.

I suspect the cancellation by email option may have been added around the time that emails and letters started to be sent with a vengeance, ie. early November 2014.

Can I just clarify: do you mean when was the option to cancel by email ADDED? It wasn't there in late June last year.

Has the 'cancel by email' option now gone again?

When I did it on 5th Jan I only remember seeing the call such a number to cancel and enter the id code message which I did immediately. I don't remember seeing it saying to email but I was in a blind panic trying to get it cancelled asap. I haven't heard a dickie bird about their court threat so just waiting. My husband had a call from the ICO today as he emailed them complaining about the data side of things and all those court cases and names. The man said although they don't agree with the business they are not breaking any data codes by publishing surnames and court cases as those are public records anyway. He was sympathetic and on our side but said they are not breaking any information regs.

..And that is the problem with the whole situation, all of the authorities sympathise etc. but are powerless to do anything and this company smile all the way to the bank. That is why it is difficult to actually get anywhere. Drives me mad.:tinysmile_cry_t:

Just to update you, after speaking just now to Trading Standards, they are still very much looking into this and are awaiting their own Counsels opinion.

There are also some other aspects that, for obvious reasons , I cannot post publicly, but rest assured this is being looked at by them.

And you already know not to worry.

What you do need to do is register on Moneyclaim online (check for gov.uk and don't go using any copycat HMCS website ) and ACKNOWLEDGE the claim, ticking the 'I intend to defend the claim in full ' box. Nothing else, don't write anything in the reasons for disputing claim box or anything, just tick that you intend to defend in full and submit.

That will just mean you have 33 days from the date of issue to put in your defence and they can't just grab a default judgment against you.
