Re: I just want my Car back, heeelpp
The Car went to the Garage for an engine conversion and power upgrade which was/is quite an involved event due to the needing of a new management system fitting to power the new engine and also the fitment of a pair of turbo's and all the nesasary pipework, intercollers, radiators etc but being as the garage specialise in this sort of thing i thought it would not be a problem. However, the Boss kept running in to "problems" which delayed the build. The car was damaged while is there possesion to the point it need to be repainted which although i was not happy, went along with it as it would have made sence to be done while it was in quite a stripped down state and agreed to pay half. What i did not expect was the paintwork to be such a bad finish it was no longer the same colour and therefore i insisted it was redone. The lights were also damaged by the garage but by the time they got round to telling me the lights were no longer available and i had to (out of my own pocket) suply the next generation lights. The garage felt the need to invoice me over £2500 for the paintwork stating that it was MY request to be done !!!! and also invoiced me £500 for fitting the rear lights which they had originaly damaged !!!!
The final invoice i got was for over £5k and had a note with it stating that the work would stop on my car until full payment had been made and once paid would be completed in 4 to 6 weeks which funnily enough has always been the same time span for completion right from the start.
Also worth noting is the fact that at the date the car was dropped of at the garage it was in a very good and show worthy condition (have photos to prove) and had a resale value of roughly £3500 -£4000 and with the conversion done the car would have had a value of £13,000 as stated by the garage as they were to be supplying an engineers report and valuation on completion of said car.
Taking that into account, had the car been completed in the agreed 4 to 6 weeks it would have and could have had a resale value of £13,000.
With that in mind, had I sold it in 2003 and deposited the funds into my Bank account there is the Compound Interest over that period of time to take into account. There is also the Original Value of the car which was £3500+ and the £4000 in cash paid in 2003 so either way the garage are in Dept to me.
The garage has had my car plus 8k in cash for a job that was originaly quoted and agreed on at £5k
