  • MET Parking ticket

Hi guys, this is my first time here.

I received a parking ticket for £100 from MET parking this morning outside my own flat. There is a small car park in front of the block of flats that is patrolled by MET - the idea I presume, is to stop people taking the few spaces that are there, and going off to the local shops.

Anyway, MET issued parking permits about 5 weeks ago, which I put in my car, but during the windy weekend the permit slipped down the dashboard. This morning when I looked, only the bottom corner of the permit was still visible - but it was clearly a permit. The car has been there for the past few weeks with a permit, so they have seen it on multiple occasions 'legally' parked. It seems as though they didn't need much of an excuse to issue the ticket. The reason on the ticket was "code: 01 - the vehicle did not clearly display a valid parking ticket/voucher/permit"

I know ultimately I am responsible for displaying the permit but surely they are on site to stop non-residents using the car park, not to make money out of residents.

I have seen other posts by MET 'customers' who recommend @mystery1 as a source of help but if anyone has something to add please feel free

Any advice would be gratefully received

    Matt

      Re: MET Parking ticket

What does your lease say about parking in the flats? Does it mention that you have to display a permit? Do you have your own space assigned and registered with the land registry?

The probability is that the parking company are operating without authority.

      Get your lease out !!

        Re: MET Parking ticket

Hi, so looked at the rental contract and there was nothing about parking. I then contacted my landlady who said she knew nothing about MET and suggested I contact the managing agent. I did so and they finally replied saying MET were operating legitimately and that if I wanted to dispute the ticket, then I should contact MET directly.

So basically back to square one, could you please give me a bit of guidance on what to do next?

        Thanks again,

        Matt

You're not back to square one, far from it. Your contract does not require you to display a permit, your lanlady does not know about Met so it looks as though the requirement is not in her lease so Met are strangers to the contract and therefore should not be ticketing cars. The management company are probably getting a take from the charges. A contract cannot be changed afterwards by a third party.

If you get on well with your lanlady ask her what it says in her lease about parking and you will sort it out for future tenants.

          Wait for others to comment.

            Dear Sirs,

I, as registered keeper, wish to invoke your appeals process. The driver did not see the signs and the vehicle is entitled to be present as it belongs to the tenant. I note your notice to keeper is fundamentally flawed when compared to PoFA 2012 schedule 4 para 9 in several aspects .

Should you reject my appeal please supply a popla code.

            Yours etc

If popla is need let me know.
