Re: voulunatry termination, bank will not accept

I would suggest giving them a call tomorrow and making a note of of who you contacted and explain to them that they have failed to collect the car within a reaosnable time and you are about to notify the DVLA that they are now the registered keeper. You will also seek to cancel the insurance and all liability now remains with them. I suspec tthey will say that you can't do that but ultimately the agreement has ended they have not repsonded and it is you that is incurring further tax and insurance costs which you shouldn;t be doing.

You can either do it now or write again or email them to customerrelations@santanderconsumer.co.uk (mak sur eyou give agreement reference and vehicle details etc.) and give them until Friday to collect or you will do it then.

To notify the DVLA you can fill out the V5C or I believe you can now do it online to by going here https://www.gov.uk/sold-bought-vehicle which might be the quicker option.

As for the Ombudsman, well as you said it is pretty irrelevant but you could just say minimal miles? unless you have done loads of miles since.

Just an update on how this ended. I never recived a reply when writing a letter saying i would put the car back in to santanders name.
Around the same time the ombudsman reviewed the case and decided that i should not be responsible for any payments from the date when santander agreed to come and collect the car.
They also have to make my credit file good.

      thanks for yyour help

        That's good news

Do you still have the letter from the Ombudsman confirming this? It would be helpful if you could upload it on here so that I can collect positive decisions which could be used in future complaints and also to try and get a consistent approach from the Ombudsman, although some cases might be different depending on facts.

You can omit your personal information but would be helpful to keep the case number for reference.

p.s did you pay the collection fee?
