No they can't. If she was exempt and has proved then that is the end of it. If she gets any more demands to pay the other persons then she has a right to complain about harrasment. Are the Council going to confirm in writing they have accepted her exemption & therefore owes zilch?

ASs for the other person then that is for the Council to chase. They can ask your GF for details but there is nothing to say that she has to tell them even if she knows - after all why should you make life easy for them.

Called again and asked for council employee, said they're going to call off the bailiffs and put on hold for a month - doesn't sound like the issue is resolved yet, will get them to send everything they have said in writing.

In case this does escalate again, which MP/Councillor to we contact? The one's from where she was living in Birmingham? Or our local one now (we no longer live in the Midlands)

Is the Liability Order something we should be concerned about? As mentioned before she has to register any issues to her governing body that could affect her "fitness to practice".

You could contact your current Councillor but they may be reluctant to get involved, the same goes for your Councillor as you current one has no clout in Birmingham and the one while you lived there may say you are no longer a constituent. It's a dirty process but I never made the rules.

The LO is not recorded on credit files nor as conviction. If it did then there would certainly be lots more folk out of work. There were probably in excess of 3million LO's granted in this last year - not all in Birmingham/
