Failed Boiler in rented student accommodation

Hello,

I am considering withholding a portion of my next rent payment in lieu of compensation. The Landlord's agent has offered a small amout and suggested altering the next rent payment accordingly. I have rejected his paltry offer and feel I'm due more. I have made a fair calculation based on the number of days the boiler was inoperable multiplied by the daily rent charge. I'm I advised witholding this amount from the next rent payment?

Just be careful, I would send them a letter recorded, detailing why you believe that your calculations / figures are correct. Make sure you get Proof of Postage.

I assume there is a deposit - agent will attempt to claim any unagreed unpaid rent from this at the end of the tenancy.
