Hi, not sure where to put this so i'll put it here.
Cashier in my local Tesco Express accosted me this morning. She knows I've had success with bank charges, credit cards and asked me ages ago if I'd help her to reclaim hers. I said I would. Well today she grabs me and asks me what Ii know about mortgages. Not a lot is my short answer.....She then tells me she's had some bloke on the phone telling her she's been overcharged on her mortgage, his copany will get it back for her, he knew the last 4 digits of her bankcard number, so persuasive etc, before she knows it he's got the rest of the info out of her, hey presto, £74 been debited from her bank account.
Seems to me this is an ambulance chasing company. As far as she knows, the mortgage (which isn't even in her name, it's her husbands) is up to date. She thinks he said it was to do with when the mortgge was sold to them, I asked if it was ERP, she thinks it was "something with an L in it"
I've told her to phone the bank and try to get the payment reversed, she's also waiting for correspondence from this company. She has the phone number written down at home so have told her to give it to me and I'll see what I can do.... and told her never ever ever to deal with this sort of thing on the phone etc, the usual warnings.
anyway, when I get the info I'll be shouting for help......
and I only went into Tesco's for a loaf of bread........
