Time to consult a Solicitor or ask the garage what they are gonna do?The thread is developing into a chapter from a book of legal statutes that confuse a lot of people.either the garage has a claim or it doesnt

      law is never that simple

Does the garage have a claim? that would depend on a number of things, some of which are not known to us here.

The garage may have a claim in damages for breach, it may have the option of seeking an SP order, it may not have a claim at all, at this stage its impossible to say.

Lets not lose sight of the pre action protocols here too. The garage will need to send a letter of claim, it is at that point the OP gets the chance to reply to the letter and set down their views etc, then the garage can consider its options and may decide to sue.

I know the law is not simple but at the moment the OP is worried by the threats and I expect does not know where its going the giving out of all the laws regarding selling and contracts would muddle most people and set the brain spinning ,seeing a Solicitor seems the answer to me

          Quite.

At least they'll know why they're paying money.

IMO most unlikely the garage could go for SP to force completion of purchase. The contract contains penalty clause in event of breach and so SP would be to enforce the penalty.
