Re: council asking for bank statements for benefit

I know whatyou're saying, and agree with that part. However, the bank account bit doesn't give access, it gives information and that is what they need for the benefit award. The problem is, it is so easy to get round this.

'WAKE UP PEOPLE BEFORE IT TWO LATE'

Yes it may very well be too late for the little old dear at number 7 who can't decide whether to eat or heat, while the young lad at number 9 sits watching sky on his 50" plasma with a fag in one hand and a can in the other.

No one wants to be spied on and our personal stuff snooped into but if people know this can be done then maybe a few will refrain from claiming fraudulently. I think this should only be applied to income based benefits by the way not disabled benefits.

this ripa law and the exemption under the DPA is just an example i am using, remember ID cards, the NHS super computer

it has been proven that people just cant be trusted with peoples personal data by keeping it secure and safe. the DNA Data base is another example , anyone arrested had their sample taken be it carged or not, even minors

Well we have had all our personal details shipped abroad in the name of saving a few bob by using call centres in far off lands. It has been said that our details are sold on for as little as 2p I doubt they are even covered by the DPA so it seems it is just part of life now.

A couple of years ago, a reporter went and sat in a cafe just down the road from one of the big Indian callcentres. Within the hour he had purchased the credit card details of hundreds of UK bank customers. He published his findings. There was the usual outrage and posturing, then ... nothing.

YOU ARE TALKING TO SOMEONE WHO HAD £30000 WORTH OF ID FRAUD AGAINST HIM

this was 15 years ago before it was reported in the press as a problem. it ruined my life, even now i get the occasional DCA letter because of this

let me tell you its not nice

thats why i go on one where data security is involved, and it seems everybody can now have access and the DPA has so many exemptions that it is not worth the paper it is written on

              rant over

Oh, people are waking up to what is going on, Miliitant. And the politicians are beginning to realise that. And they are crapping themselves. The Jimmy Saville scandal is only a small part of what is going to come out into the public domain in the next few months. There will be a revolution, but it will be a peaceful one, not the violent one the politicians are hoping there will be.

That's right, it will be called United Kingdom of Eton (Prime minister, Archbishop of Canterbury, Future Prince of Wales, next Director -General of BBC per chance?)

I doubt it very much, Alham. I will give this current coalition government until February 2013, then, my intuition tells me, there will be a vote of no confidence which the government will lose. Like I said in my earlier post, the Jimmy Saville scandal is just the beginning of a number of scandals that are going to hit this government over the next few months.

He made a claim for JSA about 4 weeks ago and confirmed entitlement last week. he had to send his entitlement letter to the council. will the housing benefit and council tax benefit be back dated to when he made a claim for JSA. it took three weeks for confirmation of JSA from the DWP
