  • What to expect? for the action of other person.

There is a person who graduated from a university in London. This person loves to prepare fraudulent documents. This person used the university letter headed paper (or created on like it) to apply for international student ID cards. the person did that for himself and did it for me (twice) without my consent to show me how easily it can be done. I am a professional in my career and if these should come out, I will lose my professional status. This happened in 2000 to 2004 while I was a student in other education entities (outside UK). I visited UK couple of times. I am not interested in these ID cards as I have my own. No need for them at all. As I understand this covers two issues: - preparing fraudulent documents and - identity theft.
I like to know what to expect if I report that person to the police and the university? what can happen to that person? will that person be charged? what risks do I face? etc....
I appreciate any comments on this matter.
    thanks in advance.

    Strange hobby to have

Can I ask, if this happened in 2004 why are you thinking about reporting him now ?
Did you ever use the fraudulent ID card for anything ?

No, I never used them at all, as I had my actual student ID cards, and I am not in the UK, as mentioned that the person has tendencies for doing things like that.
As why to report it now, as before, I did not want the person to face any harm but now there are complications which shows the person is very dangerous and will harm me, so this is a way to put that person in their place.

I am able to prove that I did not ask the person for those ID cards and I was not in the UK at that time. As it was easy to do the person did, and was proud of it. I like to share more but I am not able to, sorry.

You could make an anonymous report through the 101 call centre if you feel there is something which needs to be brought to the attention of the police/authorities but I'm not sure they'd be that interested in ID card fraud from 14 years ago, unless there is a direct relevance to what's going on now.

Of course if you are in fear for your own safety you should report that, any threats etc to the Police in any case.

          Hi
Sounds a bit odd to me
You are concerned that a person is going to harm you in some unspecified way and you think that reporting him for a minor misdemeanour from 14 years ago will protect you.
IMO you'd be better countering the perceived current threat rather than resurrecting historical wrongdoing

Thanks for the comments, but I am interested whether the police will act upon this issue or not. I am aware of the timing of this issue but as mentioned before, I am not able to go into the specifics. If the police and the university would take action or not? if so, what does that person expect to happen as of the legal aspects?
The issue is that person does that frequently, I am able to prove this instance only. As you are all aware you can not go and just blame any guy for anything without proof.
I hope someone can put some insight into this.
I am not in the UK, and other point that I like to know about, if the police act on it and I should be called as a witness, am I able to claim the expenses of my travel, accommodation and others from that person on the basis the person was the cause of this or would a written statement in an embassy from any country would be sufficient.

The person will act in harmful way toward me as some events will occur in the future, I am sure of that, that is why I am thinking of using this as a measure to limit the person's actions.
it is a long story and I am not able to disclose it here.
Are there any cops or lawyers who respond in this site? I use other site (in my country) and from the comments lawyers and cops do respond on posts.
thanks in advance for your comments.

I very much doubt the Police/CPS would take action on a fake ID card produced 14 years ago and not used for anything ( which is in essence what you'd be reporting). You can call 101 and ask them if they'd be interested. You'd be better looking at the current situation. This person might have only applied falsely for the ID card for you so he'd know exactly why the Police had started questioning him about it, which doesn't really seem to be the best idea if he is already threatening you.

The answers in any realistic sense will be nothing, nothing and nothing, unless there is a tangible threat directly relevant to the production of ID cards 14 years ago ( or to show he used to do it and the current issue is a suspicion he is still doing it )

hi thanks for your comment. there is other point which is identity theft, the person used my identity to issue the cards (in addition to submitting fraudulent documents from the university), I suspect the person does a lot of things like this but this is the only example where I have hard proof.
I submitted to the police website (without disclosing names or actual university name, just in general terms) and I got a template letter that they will keep the info for future, no mention if they would act on it or not.
The person is trying to do something worse off and if I stand in their way, I am sure it will come to violence (domestic problem).

As mentioned before, I am not sure what that person does, the person may be doing a lot of things and use my identity for other matters but I can not prove that as I am not aware of it. For example, the person may have done the ID for many people and many times, the only way to find out is contacting the university and the company which issued the ID and compare the names of people who were issued with the ID, if some were not at the university, then most properly it would be fake/ fraudulent.
As you are the site owner, would you know if cops or lawyers do reply to posts here?
would you advice if I talk to a lawyer in the UK?
It is really important and it is not about the money, but I am trying to stay unknown as I don't want to stair up anything, I am sure you can understand where I'm coming from.

                Thanks ,

If you have suspicions there is other activity / continued activity taking place which is unlawful then reporting that to the Police, anonymously, is all you can do, if you are confident you can do so without this person working out it came from you.

There are odd lawyers and police officers occasionally on here but I'm not sure they'd be able to give you much more of an answer without any detail. You have made a report and got the expected response, without anything else it is likely just to stay on file for reference/background should anything else occur in future.

Talking to the police in confidence and anonymously might help if you can disclose more information to them as to your suspicions. It sounds like you need to talk to them rather than the anon email report as there's other issues which are important enough for you to want to bring up a 14 yr old misdemeanour now.

Thank you for your time, I appreciate it, It is important and I do have other issues more important than that, but it is what i have now that i can prove. Actually my life turned upside down and i am in shatters now because some people don't take responsibility of their actions and the problem is a lot more bigger than this, but I'm trying to cover ever aspect that I can use to minimise the negative response from this person.

The only thing I am worried if i mention names to the police, then they may take action while I don't want it now, the other thing, as you said they may do nothing. it is the uncertainty that is hard to determine. If I'm able to talk to the police and ensure they don't take action now, or never, then I will disclose everything to them, as i am not ready now to disclose it as I am going through a process which I have to be quite otherwise hell will break lose, and then i can not control the situation, I am trying to control this, I know at one time, it will be out of my hands, but i need to be ready when this happens,

From your experience, if I talk to the police, will take it on board and not take action until I ask them? or would they take action if they see fit?

thanks for your help and time, I appreciate it,

The police will act as they see fit.
If you report wrongdoing which is serious enough to be acted upon you cannot expect the police to file the information and withhold action until you give the go ahead.

                        Hi all,
                        thanks for your comments.
Other point I like to ask, if I raise this now, what can I expect from myself as not disclosing this before?
Would there be any legal aspect I will face? or actually be charged with? I am not in the UK, I am in different country. All the events happened in the UK.
The person who did this is a close to me and I had my reasons for disclosing it now.
                        Thanks again.

                          Hello,

I have other post titled :"What to expect? for the action of other person". In summary the person stole my identity and prepared fraudulent documents to generate fraud IDs on my behalf without my consent. Please read the post for more info. The events were in the period 2000 to 2004.

If I want to disclose this fact now (report to police) in 2018 or 2019, is there any legal aspect I will face personally? or would I be charged with anything? I am not in the UK and the events and the person (UK citizen) are in the UK.

The person is close to me and I have compelling reasons to do it now.

Thank you in advance for your help.

So why have you started another thread on basically the same subject? You will not get more answers, just annoy people who will then not be bothered.

There is no legal obligation to report crimes, of which one may have knowledge, to the police.

You did not produce, obtain or use the false documents, so would not have committed a crime.
On the information you have provided I do not see that you can be charged with anything.
