    Re: My Mum

Firstly your dad, I know its hard but try not to disagree with anything he says. Best to agree if it's possible to do as he asks, or change the subject if you can't rather than dwell on it. Whatever your mums or your feelings towards him he will be suffering too.

I really hope that your mum is getting the proper care she needs from the Health Service and if not for what ever reason then demand it.

Not knowing your mum I nor any one else here can understand her reasoning, all I do know is she will be putting everyone else's feelings before her own, so I would ask you help her fulfil her wishes no matter how hard they will be for you and your family to do.

    Thinking of you,
    Enaid x

      Re: My Mum

I am really sorry to hear your sad news Lumi ((HUGS)) for you and your family.

I just wanted to add my piece going from everbody else's advice, I have recently lost an extreamly close family member, and the closest to my own heart, and I have dealt with it in my own way like no other. Just keep going and be strong (as it sounds you are) your doing a great job being there for them all.

        Re: My Mum

Lumi it is one of the hardest things to accept your parents wishes when they say they do not want to be resusitated. I had this with my Dad and it was an extremely hard to follow his orders. I did what he asked of me and but he sadly died within a week. But he explained that he had lived his life and could no longer take the treatment as his lungs were filling up with water stopping his heart, kidneys and liver from functioning,

          Hi Guys

If you get a spare moment and agree of course, could you sign this:

Its time to deal a fair hand to neurology

Thanks in advance, a quick update whilst I'm here, My Mum is steadily deteriorating as expected, her breathing has stabilised but her legs and arm have progressed now.

On another note, I'm having a baby! Which is good news

                            Re: My Mum

So a positive update for a change! after spending all weekend passing noted to peeps saying she was on her way, the doctor has visited today and Mum has agreed to have the PEG fitted, hopefully they'll do this asap, as she's gone from a size 24 to 7stone!

I can't tell you how relieved I feel to hear that she wants to fight for a bit longer instead of just giving up, if nothing else she will be more comfortable at the end by taking advantage of the palliative care she is being offered.

                              Hi Luminol,

I've worked with elderly and disabled people over the years and am wondering if anyone has mentioned applying to DWP for Disabled Living Allowance for your mum and Carer's Allowance for your dad. They've both paid into the system over the years and now it's time for them to claim on it. Pride should not come into it. Most of my experience is with adults and children with Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal Muscular Atrophy and a number of very rare neuro-muscular and metabolic disorders, but I have come across MND.

                              Big hugs all round.
