Sorry to say Mum passed yesterday, got pneumonia whilst getting her feeding tube and she never really got over it, Macmillan nurses were lovely and she was comfortable.

Thanks for all the kind words whilst I have been dealing with this horrible illness.

Lumi - I missed this thread while it was happening, and I am sorry for not being here with your other good friends.

FWIW, one of my beliefs is that we have to leave room on this wretched planet for others to take our place. Perhaps we do so with reluctance - until we can see why someone needs our space.

To give up our seat on the bus for a stranger is a lovely gesture. To do so for our own children and grandchildren is perhaps a privilege and an honour. I mean no disrespect in saying that. The opposite, in fact.

Your dear Mum will see her grandchild shortly, I am sure - and she will have the added pleasure of knowing that she prepared the way, I believe.

Thank you all! Its nice to come here and smile at all the lovely messages! The funeral is on Friday, will no doubt feel a little bit better after that.

All in all, I'm not too bad really, see it as a mercy now, she really was miserable towards the end and considering she was a strong minded and voiced individual, not being able to speak drove her mad!

I am sure that, after Friday, you will feel as if a huge weight has been lifted from you. I had this feeling after my father's funeral in 1987 (He was killed in a road traffic accident.) Remember about focusing on the good times you and your Mum had and give yourself time to grieve properly. Don't forget we're all here for you if you need support. God bless you and your Mum.
