Hello
I have been carrying out an interim role since January to cover staff illness. It has much greater responsibilities than my contracted role mainly in terms of managing a much larger team. Because I was covering for serious illness, I did this as a favour and was not paid additional salary. I have received plaudits for my performance and it has given me good experience.
My employer now wants to make the role permanent and has offered it to me without my having to apply. It would seem however that there will be no salary increase (to be confirmed). As I have no desire to be exploited, should this be the case: I plan to reject the role without hesitation and possibly withdraw from the interim role with immediate effect.
What could my employer do in retaliation? My existing contracted role i.e. the one I had before the interim role started still exists as do all the duties associated with it. Could I be threatened with redundancy? I realise I'll probably have to move on in the not so distant future as my card will be marked, but can I be dismissed straightaway?
Thanks in advance
