  • CCTV Evidance

Can someone tell me the rules against using CCTV evidance against someone. Say for example I bought a CCTV system could this be aceptable. I am thinking about the acuracy of the date and time and that I bought this equiptment myself. If it shows a crime being commited? Does it have to be a company only with a qualified engineer?

This has not happened yet. I am looking ahead to a problem that could happen.

Thanks .. I was thinking of getting the police to verify the date and time when they were here. If this happens though. I have a sycopathic woman who has been in and damaged my cloths. Nothing stolen. These are flats and prior to me moving in she had a key from a previouse tennent. So I beleive it will happen. I have bought a systen myself with cameras and set it up. Toog some time but it is working now.

If this person has a key to your property have you thought about getting the door locks changed?

Yes I can but I have had lots of stuff stolen. I am fighting back and get them arested / charged/ and sent to prison with compensation for everything. Can get compensation or is prison instead of compensation. What I mean is you compensate or you go to prison. I estimate £750 and I have had to buy £600 of CCTV.

Also. Can I get them to pay for the CCTV or will the judge say, "Well you still have it anyway. But I could argue that I should not have had to buy it.

              Thanks.

Change the locks as advised. Will cost far less than a CCTV system and be far more effective. As for a potential crime, if theft is charged the answer is...it depends. Unlikely to be sent to prison for this unless there is a huge back story - you may be awarded some form of compensation upon conviction. But if it is mental illness may not be charged by Police anyway.

Yes it will but I want the £700 of this person who has been doing this. If I do what you say, I don't get any compensation and the person does not go to prison. Whould this be better for me? NO.

As for "IS there a court case pending if so what are the charges?"

No but I know given time he She will try again. I am looking at what is available to me when the time comes.

Here are the guidelines for theft. Assuming the Police did act then prison is extremely unlikely

                        https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk...theft-general/

Court can order a fine / community sentence plus compensation to you. However I think you have said nothing was stolen so it cannot be theft. Possibly criminal damage

                        https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk...iminal-damage/

Where does the £700 value come from?

However on the information given I doubt very much that the Police will prosecute...

Buy the CCTV for peace of mind, change the locks and move on

I HAVE TOLD YOU. There has not been a break in. There has been no arrest. There has been no court case. Why do you think so?

When I first moved into these flats. I did not know that someone had a key. I was burled on multiple occasions by someone who had a key. Police could not do anything as there was no proof of a burglary. She had a key.

She has been in again and not only stolen property but done criminal damage including cutting up my cloths. I have calculated the theft / damage at £700.

I bought CCTV. It is installed and working. I know, given the opportunity, she will do this again. I will have caught her.

All this was explained. If she burgles me and causes large criminal damage then I believe she could go to prison. I need to do this and I need to get her charged.

Yes there is a huge back story in this.
