My boss has recently told us that if we are late for work, we will have to make this time up from our unpaid lunch hour.
The working hours are 8:30 - 17:00, so 7.5 hours working time and 1 hour unpaid lunch break. We don’t get paid yea breaks etc.
My boss sent us an email to say that if we are late, we will have to deduct time from our lunch to work this back. But he said we had to work in increments of 15 minutes.
So if we start late at 8:36, 15 minutes will be taken from our lunch hour. And if we arrive late at 8:50, then 30 minutes will be taken off the unpaid lunch break.
Is this legal? I get working back the exact time you were late (so 6 minutes or 10 minutes etc) but surely they can’t make us work more than we are actually being paid for?
