  • To Cabot from Citi while in dispute

I noticed on my credit file recently that a Citi debt on my file had been changed
    to Cabot.

However although my current address, which I've resided at for 3 years, is on my credit file,
the address on the Citi/Cabot entry on my credit file is my old address.

I assume that Cabot will try to contact me at some time.
However I'm concerned that they will (perhaps deliberately) write to my old address.

There are currently no searches showing on my credit file.

The account with Citi has been in dispute for around 4 years as they couldn't produce a CCA,
and was handed out to Capquest around 4 years ago (and returned to Citi when CCA couldn't be found).

Because account is in dispute it should never have been passed/sold to Cabot, but should I have any concerns
about Cabot (sneakily perhaps) trying to take legal action against me by using my old address
to contact me - or is that not possible?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

I'm no expert.... But will try to help. I have issues with Citi/Cabot and I'm trying to deal with them. But it seems ytour situation is different to mine.

I think the first thing to do is send a latter to Citi (recorded delivery) asking for an update.

Cabot are not easy to deal with, but if you say Citi should not have sold on the account when in dispute, then you should make a not eof this in your letter to Citi. I'm sure they will know and understand that they have done wrong.

I'm sure someone else with abit more knowledge than myself will be along to give you more advice soon.

    Hang on in there. x

Same happened to me when Egg sold a debt outright to CapQuest, who chased me for a while. Eventually, i told them of the prior dispute (hahaha, I had already had the CCJ from Egg set aside by the county court, as it was issued when i lived abroad!). To do this, I sent the prior dispute with the OC template letter. I suggest you do the same.
      Thanks!

lol, yes I had an Egg debt passed to CrapQuest, who also promptly threw in the towel when I advised them of a prior dispute (still, it hasn't prevented Egg from assigning to other lowlife scumbag DCAs (fredericksons) though).
