So I received a letter from Lowell’s regarding a debt I didn’t recognise from 2014 so I replied with a standard prove it letter and heard nothing for months only to say they would investigate, I then received a copy of a credit agreement and statement of payments I’d made, so confirming that this was an old provident loan for £2000 I never remember borrowing that from them I believe it was rolled over loans which I had with them for several year dating back to 2007 So according to the statement I’d paid a total of £1980 of a £2000 loan so basically the debt is just interest totalling £1620. I emailed them and said that I would be investigating this and seeking advice which I did and logged a formal complaint with provident via resolver which is due to escalated to the FCA for irresponsible lending in a matter of days provident have still not replied. I asked Lowell to hold any action for 30 days. But today I have received a court claim form with Lowell adding even more interest and court costs etc. I have to date never received anything from provident no default nothing just the Lowell’s letters and copies of letters they apparently sent me ( I’ve been st the same address for 7 years ! ) Obviously I will acknowledge the claim today but I want to try to defend this, could some help as to what I need to do next
Many thanks
