Absolutely, your letter before action needs to be you setting out your stall properly of exactly what happened, followed by why you are considering a claim and then finally how they can rectify it without need of a claim.

At this stage you don't need to show any reports form the other garage or dealership or any evidence to them, just let them know you have it to allow them to consider their position.

Waiting will allow you to say you have them, plus what they conclude.
