    Re: Shoftlifting at Boots

thank you Des8 for continued responses to me which is re-assuring at the least.
Yes your correct you always think of things after the event - but either way I did not pursue anything further at the time and was happy enough to be able to leave without further action.
I will try put things behind me and move on.
But could I be perfectly sure that my business with boots and the police are over and the only aspect of reminder of this shameful experience is now held with DPL who will not be able to do anything other than bombard my friend with letters?
hopefully my last post on this

Flicking back throuh this thread I've just noticed thatRLP will have access to your rental address.
Best to arrange for mail from there to be forwarded to your friend, just in case!

          Re: Shoftlifting at Boots

how do I do that? and what duration of time do you suggest ie: 3/6/9/12 months £59.99 for the year?
Also how long do RLP pursue you for time wise?
I did not give them the post code and did say I was moving out of the rented within the next couple of weeks - does that account for anything?
Whoops one more the store detective took a copy of my old driving licence from my old house which I do not own anymore I told them this as the police officer said I should return the old driving licence my new one is correct at my friends house.
Does this in effect mean that the security guy will forward all 3 addresses to RLP?

            Re: Shoftlifting at Boots

They generally give up within 9 months if they receive no responses
I suspect they will use the latest contact address to begin with.
Whilst normally the advice is to ignore them (as to acknowledge their existence seems to encourage them to badger for money) I'm not so sure that's best in your case!
If you receive a letter from them you could reply confirming your mailing address, but telling them you do not admit to any debt and that you do not intend to respond to any further demands.
This will confirm the address and should prevent them writing to your other earlier residences.
As you will not be telling them you are going abroad, they will assume you are just ignoring them and eventually give up.

Do they search the electoral register? also given they should try at my friends house first as this is the details on the adult community resolution form is it worth trying to re-direct mail which would be over a £100 for two addresses? what do you suggest
By the way good point to note thank you I have just changed the electoral register details to reflect my friends address

On reflection you seem to have all bases covered.
Tend to get a bit paranoid over these lowlife.
All they want is your money, but without too much effort.
They will only have access to what Boots pass to them, and so likely to use the address on the resolution form.

                  Re: Shoftlifting at Boots

thank you so much for your correspondence today I seem to have been on and off this solid for the past two days just cannot seem to stop thinking about it and how silly I was without any logical reason behind my actions it has helped greatly and non-judgemental as we cannot dispute the fact I did admit to it.
If you do think of anything else that could link me please let me know.
I have taken on board your advice and will be talking to my friend and will brief her on the reply to any first letter with your words to ensure if nothing else they only keep sending more letters to her address and not to the other ones of which I would have no control over (embarrassment from a distance only) but would never know if they have after the next couple of weeks. I suppose worse case scenario the owners of my old house (whom I know well which makes it worse) and the rented house (of which belongs to them too - making that worse also) would potentially open the letters and may throw them too or return with person does not live here any more.
I am not looking forward to telling my friend but I now know I have to as the RLP.
By the way what is the likely hood of is showing on an enhanced DBS as I have one for work

                    Re: Shoftlifting at Boots

From Association of Chief Police Officersguidance:
Restorative justice may be disclosed for an enhanced CRB check where it would be proportionate and relevant.

                    From Sussex police:
This also makes it clear to the offender/wrongdoer that a CR is disclosable under an enhanced DBS check.

                    From Kent Police:
"Any disclosure at enhanced level would depend on the nature and circumstances of the individual check. Ordinarily a low level offence such as a minor theft (e.g. shoplifting) would not be disclosed on an enhanced DBS check"

From the above you can guess that whilst it is disclosable to an enhanced DBS it is down to the individual force and the individual check as to whether or not it is disclosed.
It will depend on your job as to whether or not it is disclosed.
You should have been warned of this possibility at the time of accepting the CR.

Regarding your previous addresses could you not just leave a forwarding address and hope that if anything embarrasing turns up they don't open it, but just pass it to your friend?

                      Re: Shoftlifting at Boots

Yes I will do this and leave them some stamps also so there is more likely hood they would post this for me.
In regards to the DBS because my existing one is current and not for renew yet I think I should be ok until such times as I am requested a renewal and would potentially have to make the decision then if to disclose this or not hopefully given the information above each authority has a different view which does not help better if I lived in Kent.

one last thing (here I go again! - sorry) what would be your advise if they do send letter to my old address and they do send it on to my friends address should she reply to it stating the wording you advised earlier in the thread but point out that it had been passed on to her and the address they sent it to is incorrect and it should be ................? and include the wording you recommended about do not accept and liability for further claims?
