As regards other data, there's not a lot to store. They've stated there was no arrest etc... the individual's details are unlikely to be incorrect. I just don't see the point. £10 is a lot of money to some. If it's comfortably affordable and the OP wants to do us all a favour by buying LB acopy of the register, that would be great, beyond that I just don't see the point.
Sorry Wombats but it does exist RLP admitted as much in court AND they will have referred to them as being dishonest even where no criminal prosecution has taken place

To be honest, I would SAR both RLP and their "parent" Cireco Ltd. Make sure any cheque or postal order is clearly endorsed SUBJECT ACCESS REQUEST ONLY on the front face of the cheque or postal order. This prevents them claiming you have paid and, accordingly, admitted liability. In the event either or both claim they do not hold data, ask for the cheques/postal orders to be returned.

However, the retailer holds data and I would be inclined to SAR them as well. You never know, it might just "persuade" them to drop the matter.

I am with wombats on this, SARs have been sent on various threads on here in similar circumstances, to my knowledge they have never influenced the outcome one iota,(which is that they loose interest) I would keep your ten pounds in your pocket if it were me.

Besides which perpetuating the argument is usually what they want, in the hope they can ware you down.

Your apology is accepted, but unnecessary. I refer to it as an 'alleged' register as nobody 'normal' has actually seen it. I am not doubting it's existence.

The fact remains there's little to be gained from sending a SAR. What data specifically would you hope to see?

The OP may well have a case for asking for removal of their name from any unlawfully held register, but an SAR would not send a whole register with other peoples' names on, it would send at most a piece of paper with other names blacked out. Beyond that, no data other than name, address etc.... have been collected.

Agreed OP could send an s10 notice requiring them to stop using said data & to remove it from their records

even sending a sheet with only one name on it confirms they are guilty of compiling an unlawful register

You've said they've admitted to it in court, so there is no point in confirming it again. They've mentioned it in a letter here, so that's sufficient really, certainly not wirth £10 of my money.

I thought they were barred from pretending to be linked to ACPO ?

I suppose they are saying it in a way to use the ''scary'' police word (lol) and RLP (when it was Joshua's university project) did get guidelines drawn up with ACPO, but a hundred years ago, so aren't actually lying, but clearly intimating they still have links to ACPO. Righty will be more up on that side of things than I am.

Personally I would just keep it on file with the others, but I do understand it is quite scary when it's addressed to you.

I agree with Amethyst. While understandable it is worrying you, the successful cases are, I believe, those where no defendant appears and a default judgment is gained. The agreement with the ACPO was 14 years ago and RLP has been sold, and much happened since then.

Even this is 3 years old now, hard to believe really!

There's some interesting threads (depends how obsessive you feel like being ) in VIP http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...ntion)-Project for one, lots of background and random stuff.

The OLD ( 1999) ACPO guidelines http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...4&d=1242425376 and http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...3&d=1240155424 1999 was when Joshua Bamfield set up a 'project' as part of a project for the centre of retail research. ACPO have long since removed any link they have with RLP - since it was bought by Ms Lambert.

I'm sure there's a letter confirming that somewhere, Righty or Richard Dunstan might have it.

Does anyone have Debenhams CEO email ?

I've been emailing Dave Lewis of Tesco ref the misleading aggressive practises guidance but no reply yet, suppose he has quite a lot on his mind. I had nothing back from the previous CEO since August either ( he DEFINITELY had a lot on HIS mind lol)
