Like JessRhodes, I got the useless automated phone response, so I have just emailed them asked for immediate cancellation of my 'membership' and a full refund. I too am fuming and will also not rest until my money is returned to me. It's theft and I will report it as such if necessary!

    Hi Donjo1

Literally the most frustrating thing working with that awful company. I sent them around 20 emails requesting a call back but received the same snooty and high unhelpful email back every single time- no was was prepared to help me.

I finally searched and searched and searched the internet and found an alternative number for them which connected me straight to an operator...after refusing to refund me a few times, I informed the agent I was going to contact the police and report it as theft....he soon put me on hold for a few seconds and came back on and refunded all of my money back to me.

Funny thing is, about 2 weeks after my emails but a couple of days after me phoning them, I was then given the call back I requested! I told them exactly where to go and hung up.

Really wish I had saved the number to give to you If you search google for all of the other contact numbers of companies affiliated with GB discount, you should find it.

Hope you get it sorted, so frustrating! You should also go to your bank/police to report some kind of theft so they can't get away with it again.

      Hi JessRhodes

Thanks for posting, it's really helpful to know how you achieved the refund. I'll look for the alternative number, and I'll definitely report them even if I do get my money back, it's still been fraudulently obtained. I'll update when I have news! x

        Re: Great British Discounts

Many of these so called discount clubs are near scams. They exist for one reason only: people are too scared of haggling themselves.

Contrary to a popular belief, haggling is not a crime. I have managed to get a little bit off when buying a fridge freezer, a cooker and a laptop. All you really have to do is to ask if that's the best price they can do. Not difficult and not embarrassing either. If they say no, then you either buy it anyway or say thst you're going to shop around.

Even the Which magazine says there's no need to use a discount club as you can do the bargaining yourself!

I only knew that I had 'become a member' when I discovered £19.95 had been removed from my account for the second month in a row this September. They say they sent me a welcome email, but I have no recollection of it, and that I joined through someone called Nochez - who? They have also refused me any refund which is not what Joe Walsh stated in 2013. It seems they are still conning people.

Have you contacted them or your bank to stop them taking further payments?

            It'll be NoChex

. I want to cancel my membership, how do I do this?

The simplest most efficient way you can cancel your membership is by logging onto our cancellation portal L-EV8.eu and entering your account details or by accessing your membership account at www.greatbritishdiscounts.co.uk select ‘Profile’ and choose the option ‘I want to cancel my membership’.

Alternatively, you can contact our Customer Service department on 08000 394053 or by emailing us at customerservice@greatbritishdiscounts.co.uk or in writing to 145 – 157 Saint John’s Street, London EC1V 4PW.

As soon as you cancel your membership, no further charges will be made. To speed up the cancellation process, we recommend you have the following details to hand before contacting a member of our Customer Care team:

            · Great British Discounts Member ID (provided in your Welcome email)

            · First Name and Surname

            · Postcode
            #staysafestayhome

Any support I provide is offered without liability, if you are unsure please seek professional legal guidance.

              Hello guys,

I see that a lot of you have problems with GreatBritishDiscounts.

I want to ask you all of you are Uk citizen or not?
I'm asking you because im not UK resident but i still pay to them.
In their welcome Email at the bottom is written that they offer services only to Uk resident.
I still try to communicate with them but the person that replay to me act like a bot not like human.
Every time the answers are almost automatic messages.

I'v try to contact them by phone but it is recorded message without option to wait for operator call.

              Totally tricky company.
I don't know how big sellers give permission to GBD to apply on their webs.
A lot of people are deceived...

I will appreciate any help you can provide with opinion and more.

              Best
              Toni

Hi. Yes i cancel the membership.
Unfortunately they withdraw money from my card 5 times. I found that accidental, when i check my bank transfers.
I didn't receive any notifications for membership or anything.

GBD is a third party website and the link to them appears after the transaction on the retailers site is completed.

If you want to cancel your membership or have a dispute, Joe has stated refunds will be offered to anyone with a dispute. If you find this not to be the case please post here, as GBD are highly aware of the negative press this is receiving.

I have the same problem I purchased some clothes from Sports Direct and an offer came up for £10 cash back. I wrongly assumed this was a sports direct offer so signed up. When I checked my bank however I saw a £2.95 deduction. I have mailed GBD and asked for a refund but all I've had back at the minute is the £2.95 is an admin fee and non-refundable. I understand that it's not a lot of money but I just feel ripped off.
