    Re: Great British Discounts

I have just been through the tedious cancellation process (after never even receiving the Mastercard).

I was offered the deal after booking some theatre tickets on Seetickets. It offered me £20 cashback, so I followed the link and ended up signing up for the membership. Everything proceeded as expected, with an email being sent with a link for me to follow to verify my account. I made a calendar note to cancel the membership near the end of the 30 day introductory period.

I waited for the £20 cashback to appear on my credit card statement. It didn't, though the 95p charge did. I contacted my credit card company, who said it wasn't in the pipeline. I double-checked the screenshots I'd taken of the signup pages and saw in the small print that the £20 "cashback" comes in the form of a prepaid Mastercard.

I called the numbers on the screenshots as the cancellation lines, but they either were dead or gave a very short recorded message, inviting me to record my message. I went onto my account profile (having logged on to my account using the username and password I'd set up) but when I went though the cancellation process, it said my username was incorrect (odd that I had used it to get into the website). It offered another cancellation method as via the L-EV8.eu website, which asked me to enter the first 6 and last 4 digits of my credit card number to verify my membership, then said I was not registered (but they'd taken the 95p...)

Eventually I found a number that was answered by a person called Martin, who (he said) cancelled my account for me. I asked him about the £20 Mastercard, and he said you get it by filling in the form that was in the validation email and sending it in the post (there was no form in the validation email, he seemed unsurprised to hear) - but in fact I don't even care about the £20, I just want rid of them. I asked him to confirm 3 times that I will NOT be charged any money.

On here and on Money Expert.com people say it's a hassle and you never get the cashback. People on Money Expert have received the card but it had no money on it, they contacted Mastercard and were told the funds were not recieved fron Great British Discounts.

Just to be safe, I have also rung up my credit card company and asked them to block any payments to these people, explaining that I have done everything possible to cancel the membership within the month.

I feel like asking Seetickets what a reputable company like theirs is doing linking to this bunch of scammers! But I'm a bit sick of it now.

Are they touts? I thought touts were people who illegally bought up tickets and then sold them at outrageous prices? I found myself dealing with Seetickets (and, on previous occasions Ticketmaster) when clicking links on the theatre's own website!

            Re: Great British Discounts

I have been trying to get my £20 voucher for the last 4 months.
I spotted the small print, which is standard for these types of deals. However, be warned they do NOT honour the deal. They took my subscription and have been fobbing me off ever since. I call every 2 weeks. Every 2 weeks I get told they will "send the form across to the visa department and call me back". This never happens. I have never, not once received a call back. Avoid;its not worth the hassle, my experience suggests to me that this is a scam, but with monthly fees so low they count on most people giving up and letting it go.

My Mrs has an account with littlewoods. She recently placed an order and on the confirmation invoice there was a box which said click her for a £20 bonus offer.

Usually this gives an order code which gives a discount off your nest order, but this time it took you to the above website.

Thinking that this was authorized by littlewoods, she entered our details in the form and sent it off. She was then sent a form which she apparently had to print off and send to the above company(by snail mail), and she would receive a pre loaded, pre pay debit card with £20 of credit on it within thirty days.

When i learned of this i thought i would have a look a the T and Cs mentioned in the welcome letter in very small type.
Apparently she had joined a club which promised to provide discount vouchers to high street outlets, and also apparently there was a fee which would be debited from our account, either monthly or annually, I could not see what exactly the amount was anywhere on the paperwork.

I rang Littlewoods this morning, and they know nothing about this firm, although the company clearly states that they require a copy of the litlewoods order to process the free offer.

Something very dodgy here. How did they manage to get their link on the conformation invoice from littlewoods in the first place is what i want to know?

My story is identical. It started around June, I call regularly, in total I've called 6 times, and I called today and still it goes on. Lots of assurance that the mastercard department will get right onto it, always a promise to 'call back' - neither one happens. It's a rip-off.
              AVOID.

When dealing the Great British Discounts - do not simply cancel membership, but block them from your payment card. It costs nothing, my card company were happy to do this. From the posts here, although I will clearly never get my £20, I have only lost the intial joining fee. And I will be speaking with my card company to get that back.

                  Re: Great British Discounts

GB Discount obtained funds from my account without my knowledge. When I spoke to my bank, they gave me the 08000394053 number. I called the call centre in Indian and have been passed from pillar to post. I did research and have spoken to a chap called Mathew in Ireland, he basically lied saying the company had its UK head office in London - its not, its just a mailing box. I spoke to his manager, Brian Murphy on 08000394055. He has said they did do a refund but they can not trace the money. They lie. I will continue to chase them. I have forwarded the matter to the police

Cancel membership, the offer is misleading, had to wait over 4 months for a refund of membership.

                      Think yourself lucky.

At least the refund didn't come by way of a cheque you'd not wish to present, such as one drawn on the funds of the Acme Penis Enlargement Company. msl:

Just wanted to add my voice to this. Still waiting for my £20 card since ordering tickets through See Tickets. I have emailed several times & phoned 3 times. Been told that they have sent card twice, even checked address - BUT - I have not received anything. This has been going on since October 3rd 2013. Any advice greatfully received. thanks

                            Great British Discounts

i have found out today, that this company have been taking £14.95 every month from my credit card since 30th Nov'13. I bought some hair products from the website look fantastic.com. Here there was an offer of £20 off the purchase price, through Great British Discounts. I was interested in taking them up on this offer, until idealised that I would need to print a receipt and send it to them to receive the £20, I don't have a printer which is compatible with my iPad, so I decided against it. Anyway I have blocked any further payments from my credit card and have had two wasted telephone conversations with their helpful (not) customer service team. During first conversation they agreed to cancel my 'membership' and refund me £30. I then looked on this website and found the email sent from this company by a Joe Walsh. I called back and asked to speak to Joe Walsh, guess what?, there isn't anyone called Joe Walsh. Un deterred a read the part of the email back to their caring customer service team which stated that a member could cancel their membership at anytime and receive a full refund. We'll I'm here to let you know that no you can't do that. What a complete load of rubbish, stated by "Joe Walsh" I'm owed £95 from a company that wasn't even aware I was a member of, and they have refused twice, to give me my money back. Anyone out there with any advice for me, I would be very grateful to hear from you.

I've been having dealings with GBD when I saw they have taken two payments from my account for £19.95, so I emailed and called (stupid automated service which was no use to me whatsoever!!!)

Anyway, turns out I allegedly signed up to 'The Hut' (I have never even heard of it) which has allowed them to take money from me. Absolute joke!

They are refusing to refund me which is highly irritating seeing as I am a student, an even such a small amount of money, means a lot to me and the difference between my account being 0 or not.

I am absolutely fumming and I definitely will not be resting until I get my money back!!!!!

                              Joke of a company.

                                Re: Great British Discounts

I have discovered this morning that I have been unwittingly paying a monthly subscription since October 2013. I have paid £150.50 so far. I have never signed up for anything, I've never heard of this company, never used their services, I have never given my consent for them to take payments from my credit card, and I have never received any correspondence from them. Like JessRhodes, I got the useless automated phone response, so I have just emailed them asked for immediate cancellation of my 'membership' and a full refund. I too am fuming and will also not rest until my money is returned to me. It's theft and I will report it as such if necessary!
