He also offered to buy the car back from me again for 18000 this time but not a penny more as he already lost hundreds and hundreds, if I don't agree he will deliver the car back to me and he is happy to go to court where this will drag on forever or I will never win, he pretty much hinted that their company is worth a lot of money and they have good legal teams.
Shall I send an email and document my loss of earnings to him?
Are you taking about cab fares, hire of transport?

I had to hire a car last week to get to work, today a friend gave me a lift but tomorrow I might have to hire one again.

That is the 'consequential losses' (hire of a car keep receipts etc), as I said the credit card company are dealing with it, you just need to chase them up now and then, if he wants to tell the credit card company about all his losses then that's his prerogative, not something you have worry about.

He wants to find a solution that works for both of us, i told him that I’m willing to take the car if he agrees to cover my losses, he asked me to send him an email.

You need to decide what you want to do. Ignore his nonsense and get your money back with consequential losses (let the credit card company deal with it) or keep the car and negotiate with him.

I'm no legal expert but what strikes me is how they ignored your rejection and seemingly tried to trample over your right to reject. I think I also read in your post that they lied to you.
It would concern me what level of after sales they will provide going forward. Hopefully the EGR pipe is a coincidence and hopefully they have fixed it as the cause of the initial problem.

The car dealer I am dealing with on a similar issue has also ignored my right to reject and has been continuing to refuse to fully reimburse me so far. However you seem to be out of pocket by quite a considerable sum comparatively speaking. If that was me I'd be very concerned about the sum of money involved and it would be affecting my cash flow. At least it sounds to be a large motor group so I imagine they will value their reputation and have relative financial stability.

Are they accredited by the Motor Ombudsman? If so, the latter may help you with mediation. Also, check if they are a member of any other association or suchlike. There is a Trading Standards 'Buy with Confidence' scheme that some businesses are signed up to. Might be worth checking if they are involved in that. If so, you can complain to the buy with confidence scheme and/or Trading Standards who manage it.
I recently refused to buy a car from 'Carzam', another online motor trader, because they have no such accreditation etc on their website. I had no reason to doubt the car but they, like most traders, have several negative reviews and these days it seems to be a case of 'buyer beware'. Personally I am not buying another car unless I have seen it, driven it and thoroughly inspected it in person.

A tough choice for you no doubt, especially with the way the car market is, as you say. Its no excuse to deliver a vehicle not fit for purpose, not as described or not of satisfactory quality. And you had a right to reject. Who knows if the dealer knew that fault was there before or not but is an awful coincidence.

              Hope you get it sorted!

Good morning. some good news, after spending half an hour over the phone with him he agreed to refund me in full once he receives the V5, I believe negative reviews helped a lot.
wcms I hope you get your problem sorted soon.
They are accredited everywhere, I did report them to trading standards, to me it was super weird seeing a business that's worth close to a billion pounds deal with this so poorly, they dragged this for almost 3 weeks and made a huge deal for less than 500 pounds, I felt that they tried to intimidate me several times, they also lied and refused to acknowledge any of my problems. Super stressful situation, especially when it happens twice in less than a year.

I think I was "lucky" that I had paid the deposit with my credit card which gave me protection, lesson learned, always use the credit card.
For the next car I will request an AA/RAC inspection. Main dealer, 5 star reviews.. I don't think this means much anymore.
Thank you very much echat11 for giving me great advice, I owe you.
