  • Query for nemesis please

    Hi
ref my thread I'm so stressed
Amended tax return for the business miles recalculated by HMRC they owe us about £400 but on the first self assesment page before you pick your tax year it says in red figures £2500 over due pay now so not sure why it's there if on the statement no tax is owed bit confusing

Honest words of wisdom I have looked at the figures I think he might have paid the higher child benefit twice once for the original and then again for the amendment at a lower figure I would have thought the online balancing statement would have corrected the figures

I really get the impression that HMRC recruit from the realms of the terminally bewildered and then infect tax payers who gradually lose the will to live!:deadhorse:

                      Morning
Head spinning silly question if earnings is say £58,000
Do you reduce that by the tax free amount say £10,000 and then pay tax on £48,000 HMRC are totally bonkers after doing our own version of the tax calculation they have added an underpayment figure of nearly £3000 that should not even be on this amendment please take me away it's sending me bonkers too

I must say from my stressed out post the original underpayment was for nearly 6,500 he had not claimed his milage expenses which amounted to 6,000 but he still has a underpaid tax amount for 2014/2015 added into the above figure

                              Hello Winner,

                              It's bloody confusing!+

Are they by any chance collecting an underpayment by issuing a lower tax code? It's the only thing I can think of.
