  • state pension question

Not sure if this is the right place but if not can admin move it?
Mr DT is 65 in December so I helped him gather all his bits and phone the claims desk.
He has just got his breakdown and I think it is wrong.
I already get mine ( had to wait five months because of birthday) always paid "full" NI stamp and during the last two years was on "the dole" for six months.
After the six months I could not get income based job seekers as he worked more than 30 hours per week.
This is why I think the sums are wrong, he has worked since he was 16 and always in excess of 25 to 30 hours per week yet initially his state pension is less than mine.
Should we question it, if it turns out mine is wrong could not pay it back!:tinysmile_aha_t:

      Re: state pension question

We did actully, back in January when he was threatened with redundancy.
Even I think it was less but were told that was beause of his NI contributions.
It just sems odd that i am getting more than he will, he, as I said worked full time I did mostly part time or "bank/agency" nursing.

          Re: state pension question

Bit hard without all the info dogtired-but i realize itspersonal

-but the state breakdown should explain----look in particular to see if there are any years with a shortfall of stamps

If so--you can buy them btw to permanently increase the pension and have it backdated (as I did)

If you want me to check -I can do --(confidentially of course)--its only sums and logic at the end of the day

                    Re: state pension question

soo---extrapolating yours to the new £107.45 rate would mean yours is around£154.66 compared with Mr DT at £144.58---a difference of £10.08

Sooo---its all to do with these 3

                    • Caring/incapacity
                    • Graduated pension

Got to go to Docs--be back soon and will refresh myself re above 3 areas on my return

Right--as below where the differences are--I'm not really familiar with it all--but your BASIC PENSIONS based on years/NI contributions are same (and maximum of £107.45)-soooooo
-was Mr DT in a company pension partly so he had more contracted out deductions?

Mr DT in Nhs scheme will have to check his pay slip if he has one now.
Dont know if its me but it still seems strange that he gets less!
                          Thank you!
