My dad used to be chief executive of a charity which unfortunately went into voluntary liquidation for one reason or another.
I have just been told that the pension that they were deducting from his pay was used to pay off outstanding debts that the charity had and that the trustees are unwilling to pay this back to him.
Not only were they paying 7% into his pension but they were also matching this themselves. The amount owed to him is around £80,000 from his calculations.
Because this was not paid the HMRC are now looking to take him to court for the tax on this pension which is in excess of £30,000.
We are looking to now take the trustees of this charity to court for the outstanding pension payments. They tried to buy him off with £14,000 however he has refused this.
Does anyone have any advice, do not really know where to start?
