  • Scared to report PIP change, could I be in trouble?

    Hi everyone,

I was awarded PIP in February 2017, lower rate mobility (due to agoraphobia)

In my original paperwork sent to them I explained how I rarely leave the house, and when I did, it was no more than about 15 meters or so from the house (this was at the time) the assessor put in her report that I did not leave the house whatsoever.

For a while now, I have been leaving the house to go further, it still isn't far from the house, it's about 60 yards from the house, but I do this every single day now but I have to take either my Mum or Sister with me to do this, due to the change in law last year, I think that I should now be on the higher rate mobility as I cannot follow the route of a familiar journey unless I have somebody with me.

I am also wondering if this counts as therapy? As it is exposure therapy, but would the DWP see it like that?

However I am very worried that by letting them know could have negative effects, firstly because I have not let them know sooner, could that cause trouble?

I am also worried that doing this could lead to me losing PIP altogether, does going 60 yards or so from the house count as a familiar journey?
