  • Defaulted But Not on a Potential Claim

In 2002 myself and partner (now wife) took out a mortgage with NR until 2006 when we switched providers. Also in 2006 I took out a personal loan (not connected with the mortgage) with NR that I defaulted on around 2011. In 2012 I also claimed some PPI on this loan from them, then continued minimum payments with them until they sold out to Marlin Financial.
We are now considering checking to see if we had PPI on the mortgage but my concern is it will flag up my default of the personal loan. There are no records on my credit files of anything to do with NR or Marlin for that matter.
Would the claim be treated as a totally separate file?
