  • Natwest PPI Rejection

Hi all, not sure whether to persue this or not, but if you get a rejection letter from Natwest based simply on seeing signed documents and not really taking into account of verbal responses during a short phone call. Should I just let it go or take it further? They obviously include going to the financial ombudsman.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thank you

What was your argument to natwest? How did they reject it?

Were you eligible for the benefits? Was it an online or offline(telephone or branch) application?

    More info please

Thank you for responding to my query and I will try and share their response as best as I can.

They called me from an unknown number onto my mobile and started to ask me questions on this claim. I provided answers to their queries.

Their response suggests i was eligible for potential claims under the benefits of the insurance.

They suggested that they would only provide information on this insurance on non-advised basis only and they would not of provided me with a personal recommendation. On this basis they say they were not responsible for identifying whether this policy was suitable for me or not. Also say they were not responsible for assessing my employer benefits, savings or other means that might of been available to me.

They suggest that their member of staff was required to ensure cover was made clear to me and that it would be in the booklet they provided.

They also provided documents that were issued at the time, and signed.

They noted my concerns! (took no notice really)

The operator basically feels that there was no pressure in getting me to purchase ppi.

      ALSO UPDATE:

A second claim has now been responded to where they have approved my claim and made an offer, the interesting thing is my responses to this operator were virtually the same as the one above. These were for older ppi events, so not sure if that is a factor.

Any thoughts on this? Should I persue the rejected one?

Thanks and if you need more info, please let me know, appreciate your thoughts and time.

Pursue it to be honest with you because if the first one was identical to the second one then clearly the decision should be the same...

Was it their final response or just the usual FOB off letter ?

I would contest it by highlighting what Leclerc says and also respond to their reasons individually putting your case across as to why you believe you was missold advised or non-advised.

            Re: Natwest PPI Rejection

            Hello and welcome Randomself,

I agree with Leclerc and Bazza.

Firstly, could you please give a bit more details about your case.
Secondly, you should keep going anyway, because you had an identical case upheld.

I always recommend to get your SAR from the business. It is very helpful to know what information about your case is available.
For instance, your telephone conversation should be mentioned there etc.

Should you need help with the information about getting your SAR, please let us know and we'll help with the template letter etc.

            Meanwhile, please do keep going,
please, give us a bit more information and
            please request your SAR.

Please be aware that you have 6 months and no later since their rejection to take it to the Financial Ombudsman.

            You still have time.

I would first of all get SAR, which may take up to 40 days, then, you may contact the FOS by the phone, they are very helpful with their advice over the phone and if they recommend to send them your complaint, you can do that.
However, you have to appreciated that they are overloaded with cases and it may take about 2 years before they will be able to resolve your case one way or another.
Still you can register your complaint with the FOS and at the same time continue to try to resolve it yourself with the business.

You can write to Natwest CEO department and put your reasons for challenging their decision to reject. I resolved this way 2 of my cases myself.
Of course there have to be a good and persuasive argument to show why their rejection is wrong.
So, you need to give a very good explanation why you believe it was mis-sold. That is why it is very important to get your circumstances right to be able to challenge their decision.
Once again, I recommend to get SAR first of all, to make sure that you give as accurate information as possible.
            We are here to help.
            Best of luck,

            Victoria.
