  • Trying to claim PPI on a debt that is statute barred

Is it possible to claim PPI on a debt that is statute barred? I would guess that by trying to claim PPI on a debt that is NOT statute barred would be acknowledging the debt, so would reset the clock for SB?

We had a mortgage with Natwest and Abby for about 14 years between them that ended around 2004 or 2005. Can we make a PPI claim from these? If so, how would we go about it?

    Thank you.

So this debt is dead and buried for how long? There may no longer be any paperwork for the debts.
    Was the PPI mis sold?

Thank you nemesis. We paid off our mortgage about 2004 or 2005 and paid PPI for an amount of time. I do not know whether it was mis sold though. I did claim on it at one point, but not sure about much after that. Sorry I do not have much more information.

Other debts that are not so old may have PPI that was mis sold, but because they are outstanding and we are waiting for them to become statute barred, I do not think it would be a good idea trying to claim PPI on them, as that would acknowledge the debt right?
