  • BJ's Dad - PPI Claim

    Hi All
    Hope yo can help
My PPI was sold to me by HFC in 2003. I was told that it was a condition of taking out the loan that I had to accept their PPI (Hamilton Insurance-Part of same group funnily enough)
Having seen various sites and threads I understand that the PPI was mis-sild in that I was was told that I had to take out insurance with them
I sent my first complaint letter on 30th Jan asking for a refund for PPI payments made and to cancel the remaining PPI (approx 8 months left on loan)
    Received a letter dated 14th Feb as follows;

    'Dear xxx
    Ref Acc xxx
Further to your letter dated etc
I write to advise you that at present we have been unable to resolve the issues raised to your satisfaction. I hope your complaint can be resolved and we will contact you again shortly.
    yours etc'
In the booklet they've sent me it states that they have 8 weeks to sort out internally before I can do anything
    1. Is that correct?

    2. What should I do next?

    Thanks in anticipation

Hi BJ's dad, first off moved your post so you are on a thread of your own. More chance of people reading it and helping you.
HFC have in fact had a hefty fine for mis selling PPI.
As your loan and PPI were taken out before 2005 the FOS will not deal with it.
I would write to them again, giving them 14 days to repay you all the PPI and interest. Letting them know that you are willing to go to court with this.

Here is a link about their fine FSA fines HFC Bank £1.085 million for PPI failings
