Hi
I recently asked for an SAR from Barclaycard for two cards which I held with Egg and transferred over to Barclaycard . One card was opened in 2002 and the other in 2004 . Both are now closed . When I recieved the SAR back I saw ( as suspected) I had PPI on both . I then sent in letters to Barclaycard requested the PPI to be refunded . Although Barclaycard had provided statements showing I had PPI they could not locate the applications as these were done online . My reason for claiming the PPI was that it was not made clear to me that the PPI was optional and that the boxes were preticked . Barclaycard duly upheld my claim on the card opened in 2004 but took ages with the card opened in 2002 and then wrote back saying that as I had done the application online I would have known it was optional and refused my claim .
This confused me as both cards were opened in the same way so how can one be upheld and the other not ? my cycnical side suggests that the card opened in 2002 would have a larger PPI refund and so it is in Barclaycards interest to delay as long as possible and force me to go to the FCA ( Of course I may be totally wrong) .
Anyway I will write back pointing out this 'anomaly' and see what they say but I was wondering if there is anything else I can do ( barring of course going to the FCA and waiting )
Many thanks
