    Re: PPI + ARB Advisory

No. Not yet. I'm assumin that by 'MOJ' you mean 'Ministry of Justice'.... I'd never heard of them before I joined this thread the other day.
I was told on Wednesday that I'd hear from the ARB Advisory Cancellation department. So far, I've heard nothing. And no, I have nothing in hard copy, only the Ts&Cs and company information I've been sent by email.
The claim letters I signed and returned... I can't rememeber if I was sent something to sign and keep.... there are days that I'm really not well enough (due to pain, exhaustion and medication) to take much in. I DO remember that there were many mistakes on the claim forms - including incorrect spelling of my name - I made many corrections, but received no comfirmation that these had been passed on - which I'd have expected from a 'professional' company.
According to their Ts&Cs, ARB Advisory seem to me (but I'm not familiar with any of this!) not to have done anything that could be judged to be 'wrong' or 'criminal'. At what stage should I be informing the MOJ, and of what?
Thank you for joining in with your help.
    regards,
    dee

      Re: PPI + ARB Advisory

As ARB don't appear to have breached any regulations there's nothing the MOJ can or will do.

At this point I think we're going to struggle to get some or even all of your payment back. If you cancel the contract the terms in the agreement that you signed entitle them to charge £75 per hour for any work they've done to date up to a maximum of £495.

So if they have a number of potential claims that you've given them to work on it might be worth hanging on to see if they produce any refunds for you. I think you should chase them to find out what the status of the claims are. Under the regulations they are obliged to keep you updated on progress. I'd be happy to draft a letter for you'd like.

        Re: PPI + ARB Advisory

        Hello again,
I gave them information over the phone in the first instance, including my current MBNA credit card number. The Santander card they used for the £495 'deposit' was used, without my being aware to agreeing to it, to pay £1 for a 'free' 30-day trial to access my credit history which, after they'd accessed it, they 'phoned me up and told me to 'phone the credit history company to cancel my free trial (!).
A few days later (I think), I was sent an envelope with some badly photo-copied claim 'covering letters' and a written request that I complete these, sign them and return them to ARB. (I MUST have their covering/instruction letter somewhere.... I'll go and hunt that down, but it was very brief)
I returned the signed claim letters (having corrected the errors they contained) but couldn't take photocopies of these as my printer stopped working. (I live MILES away from anywhere and can't travel without increasing my level of pain, so getting the printer fixed is beyond me at the moment, I'm afraid).
One of the claim letters had no reference, so I assumed this was a bit like a 'blank cheque' that ARB could use to access more claims than the 5 or 6 that were in this first batch.
I attached a letter with a list of all my home addresses since 1983; together with a list of all the credit agreements and mortgages, etc., that I remembered.
I was phoned a couple of weeks AFTER posting this package to ARB Advisory (or was it Rock Law?) to ask if I'd posted it. I was assured that, although my case manager (there was one at that time... ) had not seen the paperwork, that it was in the system. He confirmed that the 'blank cheque' page would be used to put in new claims but, until I 'phoned this week, I had no information from ARB to confirm how many, or which, claims they were handling on my behalf.
Despite 'phoning twice and asking, very specifically, for this information to be sent to me they wouldn't go through the list in the 'phone and when I kept asking about this, and my wanting to re-negotiate the %-age charges, I was tersely told I'd be put through to the Cancellation Department as the Customer Services department were unable to do anything except update me on my cases.
They didn't know that Santander, as I'd advised ARB they would, came back with a negative response.
I'm more than a little worried that no-one's time is being dedicated to looking after my case.
I must have that covering letter somewhere.......
but it all seems a bit unprofessional and uncontrolled on their side.
        What do you think?
        cheers,
        dee

          Re: PPI + ARB Advisory

Firstly can you find the covering letter and anything else I haven't seen?

Also who signed up to the 30 day trial to access to your credit file? You or them?

            Re: PPI + ARB Advisory

Thanks. I was beginning to think this was the case. If I hadn't heard that a friend was getting a better deal with another company, I'd have continued feeling happy that someone was taking the time to make a PPI claim for me (as I don't currently have the energy or ability to concentrate long enough to do it for myself)...... All I need to do is go back to that feeling...... and look forward to getting someting, anything back. After all, as long as it's eventually more than £495, I'm better off than before ARB 'phoned m e.
            Thanks for looking at this.
I'll let you know what happens and, if nothing's arrived before the end of the year, I wish you a Happy Christmas and New Year!

Warm regards from the cold, wet hill of Wales,

            dee

                Re: PPI + ARB Advisory

I'll see if I can find the letter over the weekend.
re. the free trial. I knew nothing about this until they 'phoned me and gave me a number to 'phone and cancel the '30-day free trial'. I'd never given permission for my credit card information to be used in this way. They did it all. Why?
A £1 was taken off my card by the credit rating organisation. Again, I had no knowledge that this was going to happen and had never knowingly given specific permission for my card to be used in this way.
I'll see what 'hard copy' information I have from them, but I know there isn't much.
(I'm sorry this sounds so disorganised and pathetic. It's not how I used to handle things. In fact, I didn't start filing anything from ARB/Rock-Law until last week because I've just been too ill to give it any time or energy.)
I'll get back to you on Monday if that's OK.
                Cheers,
                dee
