  • PPI - Gregson & Brooke

    Hi all

I am new to this and hoping I have posted in the correct forum, please feel free to let me know if not.

I am in need of some advice. Back in November 2011 I received a call from Gregson & Brooke saying they will reclaim my PPI for no win no fee. I agreed, they sent me the forms and I filled them out with 3 creditors, including a Halifax loan.

After not hearing anything from Gregson and Brookes, Halifax called me out of the blue saying the paperwork had not been signed correctly so they can not release any information to Gregson & Brookes. The lady then went on to discuss with me my options and said they will directly send me an offer in the post. A week later an offer came through, I signed and then in April 2012 a cheque came throught the post. Still no word from Gregson & Brookes on this claim or the other 2 which I had sent them info on.

Well we are now in March 2014 and Gregson and Brookes are constantly hounding me via telphone saying I owe them £800. they have now passed this is to a collection agency and I have 21 days to respond/pay or it will go to court.

Any advice is welcomed, I am unsure what to do. Shall I repsond in writing and explain what has happened? Also Gregson & Brookes never got back to me about any other claims they were supposed to be making on my behalf they have just decided to demand this money from me after all this time.

    Thanks

    Katy

They appear to be a debt management company but they are authorized by MOJ.

Do you have G&B's terms and conditions? I can't find G&B online.

Thinking about it if Halifax refused to accept the letter of authority (if that's what it was) from G&B to act on your behalf it means they were unable to provide claims management services and as such can't charge for them, at least that's what I'd say.

I think I have a copy of the T&C's at home, I will find them out. Yes it was a letter of authority. I just dont know what step to take next, I can seem to find them online either.

        Thanks for responding.

There are a few threads to have a nosey at regarding this company http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...son-amp-Brooke and http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...g-debt-dispute and http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...o-towards-debt and http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...p?46429-Hi-all

Their site has been down for ''maintenance'' since April 2013, which scans with them losing/surrendering their CCL.

Re: PPI - Gregson & Brooke

Thanks all, still searching for the T&C's. Why do you think Gregson & Brooke are still calling me on the telephone if they have passed this on to a collection agency? Are they allowed to do this?

I have spoken to citizens advice and they say to respond to the letter and outline the situation and include a copy of the letter form Halifax, which I have and state that Halifax stated the forms were not filled correctly and see what happens from there? I think this is what I will do. I have 12 days left to respond so will try and find out the T&C's and post here to see what your thoughts are.

Interesting their website has been down since April 2013, actually makes me feel less worried. Not sure why!

Re: PPI - Gregson & Brooke

Could you post up the text of the letter from Halifax minus any personal information?

You need to respond to GB in the form of a formal complaint, that way it kicks into touch any enforcement action they wish to take during the up to 8 weeks they have in which to give you a final response, at least in theory.

Will scan in the morning when I get to work and post. The letter I need to respond to is from One Tick, should I post that here too? Thanks

Is One Tick the debt collection company? If so you may as well.

                        Ok thanks, that's helpful.

We really need to see the GB T&Cs. Have you got them? If not I may be able to get them from MOJ fairly quickly and then we can draft the letter of complaint.

Ok I'll try and get hold of them from MOJ. It might take a few days but we need them before you do anything else so bear with me.
