  • Mbna - not holding my breath

I opened an abbey national credit card in 1997 which was bought out or taken over by MBNA in 2001, the card is still current. Having discovered that the insurance would never have paid me sick pay as I am employed by the NHS , or unemployment post redundancy as I would receive an NHS redundancy package, I have submitted a claim for missold ppi . I have always been a nurse so was in that employ when first applying, I have applied for those reasons plus it was implied that I wouldn't be approved had I not taken ppi. I took out the card instore with a leaflet which was checked by Abby national staff member.
Having read the mbna threads on here I am now almost resigned to being refused , if so what should my next step be please?

It seems from what I have read that its standard practice for banks to refuse your claim in the first instance. I think the key is be persistent and if you don't feel the bank has responded with an appropriate response submit your complaint to the FOS

      Hi and welcome

First see what they come back with, if they try rejecting then we will work on the info they have given to take us to the next step.
Usually they give you the opportunity to forward further info, and they may still mention its a final decision, but if you do have the opportunity we can write further and apply other info.

In the final decision they should enclose the leaflet details of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) if eligible to complain to them, but we can always try the Manager/CEO avenue before that direction.

Keep us posted and we can take it from there, you do sound like you have a good case, so good luck and we look forward to hearing of the outcome once you have this x
