  • RBS credit card ppi refused

    Hello,

After submitting a questionnaire to RBS regarding PPI that had been added onto a credit card even though it was specified in 1993 when it was taken out that it was not to be added.

RBS have come back to advise:-

It was sold on a non-advised basis, they have sent a copy of the certificate of insurance from that period although you can't read anything at all - they have said that we should have cancelled the PPI at that point, well after applying and stating it was not to be added why would you read small print on a brochure that is in relation to PPI when you have not taken it out (or so you thought)

They have said as the 2 statements they have provided copies of from 2001/2002 (all ours have been shredded) show payment protection being taken out that it should have been questioned then - er the deduction is classed as 'card protection plan' and at the time of taking out the card sentinel insurance was added apparently for 'fraud prevention' (which after reading in the media this is also a farce) and it was presumed that the deduction taken each month was for that and not PPI.

Do I just go to FOS as it doesn't say final decision or do I go back to RBS and query it all again?

    Thanks in advance.

Definately query what they have said
And yes, RBS did call their rubbish PPI, Card Protection Plan; not to be confused with CPP as RBS used Sentinel!
