  • Ppiclaimback fee - but no signed contract

Hello all this is my first post,

Hopefully someone will be able to give mesome help / advice thay may have had a similar problem.

My brother asked a PPI company to look into anexisting mortgage that we have and it turned out that no PPI was being paid orhad been paid.
Since then they have gone ahead and lookedinto an old loan that I had with the same provider and it turned out I had paidPPI on it. I do seem to remember that they informed my brother that PPI was paid on the loan and for me to ring them about it, I didn't.. I did not ask them to look into this loan for me and nor did I sign anydocumentation or contract for them to do so. I received a letter from my bank a couple of weeks ago informing me of the compensation and I just presumed the PPI company fee had already been taken off. I have since cashed the cheque and spent it.

They are now asking for their fee, does anyone know if they are actually entitled to it?

Many thanks in advance of any advice given,

    Stu.
