  • Can they do this?

an offer for redress on Payment Break Plan from Barclaycard. They now say that , as the card has got a balance, they are applying to that to reduce the balance. I am not in arrears, can they do that?
My agreement was to pay 3% or £5 whichever is the greater. As this is not strictly money that I have spent , it is money wrongly applied to my card, I thought they would have to pay me directly?

barclaycard dont usually apply to balance where not arrears/default, have you queried this with them, some lenders are currently taking a view even where there are arrears, may be worth a call to see if can be sorted amicably before you start circling the wagons.

      Hiya

It appears that on Credit Cards if still active that they tend to do this, and any interest from my own experience (not the same bank though, so it may differ) should be paid directly to you by forms of a cheque payment. Even if no arrears, but if you don't agree you could contact/write to them and tell them as there are no arrears you prefer to have this awarded directly to you, for example if you had another debt you may prefer to use the money for that instead as its your money you have already been deprived of.

There is no harm in asking, but see what others have to say on this as well, good luck and well done on your success x

Oop sorry Paul, missed your post above, and glad you have posted with what you know of this company, cheers.

Lost a customer Barclaycard has. How embarrassing.

Defo give them a call and try to get this resolved. Otherwise make a formal written complaint, receive numerous 'final' responses and go to the FOS for some compo for distress and inconvenience Yoda.
