  • PPI queries

    Hi

My apologies if I am doing this wrong, but I’m very new to this.

I am wondering if any one can help me, as I am somewhat baffled regarding the reclaiming of PPI insurance[/font]

In 2005 my husband was diagnosed seriously ill and lost his business, he was a self employed engineer – to clear all our debts we took out IVA’s – several of our debts were to do with credit cards, some of which we had had for an age going back to the 80’s.It is only now that a family member has reclaimed PPI back that I have ventured to try to claim back ours.I sent a letter (which I think was the wrong one!) to all the card holders we had. This was in October, all but Cahoot have responded within the 40 days; some – store cards now with Santander have written back and told me exactly how much insurance I have paid – others like Barclays, Capital One etc., are asking for a £10 fee and they will give me six years statements – I know most of the credit cards were taken out in the mid-late 90’s and I want to see the original agreements as I definitely know that PPI was on them.

However I did stop paying PPI on some of the cards around 2002 when I found out it was not compulsory – but did not know that it was useless to have anyway if you were self employed!).

Do I have a chance of getting anything back from them prior to this six year’s Barclays are mentioning? And if so, how do I go about it – my relative simply filled in a questionnaire that was downloaded from ‘moneysavingexpect’ and has had no problems.

I have moved several times, and all the paperwork has been destroyed, I simply have the account numbers.

    Re: PPI queries

As you made contact with these you should be ok as regards to the PPI review being filed at court now you need to send off a sar request to each of these companies enclosing the £10 search fee ensure you state in the request you want all data they hold on the subject

If your hubby was self employed at the time of signing these agreements then that is more than likely a mis-sell but to be sure you need to check the policy wording

interesting to see that santander are complying as they have stated they will not hold claims until after the JR review

also state in your sar request that you want a complete screenshot of the account history because despite what they say you can claim back for as long as you have proof for

Indeed i went back as far as 1996 on my loans
