One of our members has got a satisfactory conclusion, he sent the below pm to me as his creditors have been pretty fair and not stroppy and he didn't feel it right to rub their noses in it should they be reading the forum, which is fair enough. He's told me I can reproduce the text but not to use his name, although some of you may recognise who it is. Here's his pm.....
Hi WendyB,
Just a quick note to thank you for your advice. I claimed a PPI refund on 2 RBS loans. Thay have settled one loan for a £7150.00 refund straight into our bank account. I am still waiting on the outcome of the PPI on the second loan which replaced the first loan. They admitted no liability but paid as a good will gesture!
I have dealt MBNA down from £7200 (£800 arrears) with a PPI reclaim of just over £1500 and a few charges , which brought it down to £5500.00, and I have settled with them at 40% of the balance at £2131.00, paid today.
I have used some of the money from the RBS refund to do this. The rest of the money cleared a £3,300 o/d with RBS, reduced my Cap One CC from £850.00 to £350.00 and my wifes Santander CC by £1000.00 to £1800.00. Both these cards are up to date anyway, but now with reduced balances.
I still have RBS credit card at £9.6k but the last correspondence I had to them was putting the account into default - they didn't reply. Ethical or not, I am going to let it run - they can't find the credit agreement. If they come at me in the future I have a charges and PPI reclaim that I will try first - you do what you have to do..
We have managed to pay our three months mortgage, which is what they asked for, and then they suggested that the arrears be tagged on to the mortgage.
All in all, a great result, bearing in mind what I was facing a few months ago - I have cleared just over 12k's worth of debt for a cost of a few Recorded Delivery letters.
My thanks are mainly to you, but all the people that have contributed, and of course the abundance of information on the site.
I didn't want to make this notice public because my creditors, in all honesty, have been very good up to now, and if they read things like this, I didn't want to rub their noses in it. By all means use the text if you wish, but do not include my name,
thanks again and best regards,
.
