I have received various invoices from Bank Smart for nearly £2,000 for breach of contract and cancellation fees as I asked them to stop progressing anything once I got the first invoice for breach of contract. I think I instructed them to act for me years ago but thought it was no win no fee. I have never provided them with any documentation as I didn't have any or could not provide the information they required. Has anyone else had this. I didn't realise I was going to be charged for them doing nothing except send me letters asking for information. Am I legally obliged to pay these invoices. Thank you.

As usual the best way to deal with them is get all the information first, make a formal complaint to them and if they don't uphold it you can then go to the Claims Management Ombudsman.
So I would send them the following and report back when you get their response and we can help you draft the complaint.
Dear Sirs
I refer to your recent notification advising me of outstanding 'breach of contract' and 'cancellation invoices totalling almost £2000.
In order that I can properly consider your request for payment I require the following supporting information by return in an electronic format:
1. A detailed breakdown of the fees making up each invoice
2. Identification of which specific terms you believe I have breached and an explanation of how you believe I have breached them
3. A detailed summary of the status & history of each claim
4. Copies of any signed contracts
5. Copies of any signed Letters of Authority
Should it be necessary please consider this request as a Data Subject Access Request.
Until such time as you have provided me with the above information it would not be appropriate for me to engage with you.

Hi,
This morning I received in the post twelve letters of cancellation (as I have told Bank Smart to stop proceeding with any claims) along with all the breakdown of costs for each claim and twelve invoices totalling £1,813.80. I am not sure where to go from here. I would be grateful for any advice.
Kind regards
Shirley

I'd certainly like to see the breakdown of costs for each claim, with a view to advising you accordingly.
Could you either scan or photograph them in sequential order (so they're legible) and send them to me at nick@legalbeaglegroup.com please?
