I am trying to sort my credit rating out so went online to view my credit file to find,
my old Santander current account I have defaulted on since 2011.
I was in the military so moved around a lot and was oversea, had my bank letters go to my grandmothers. I stopped using the account when I left the army and my grandmother moved house, I did not cancel one direct debit ( I think it may have been life insurance while I was in the army ) and since then I had fees put my account each month. ( found out as I phoned them today to get it sorted)
so the 566 I owe them are just fees for failed direct debits.
on the phone the guy basically said wait until November and it should be wiped of as this will be 6 years.
is this true,
every month it show I have defaulted with Santander from 2011 every month.
I know it is my responsibility to manage accounts but I was young and did not think about closing the account thought I may want to use it one day.
