  • Medical retirement and pension

    Good afternoon,

I am currently going thought the process of being retired on medical grounds, as not being thought this process before I am looking for some advice, I have currently been given MDR1 from my company and they have also made me a offer, as I am of a young age of 42 what happens to my pension, do my company pay into it until retirement age or do I take it now, which I would rather not as having nothing in later life. I have done some digging and see something about an annuity, do I go down this route, it’s just all so confusing to me.
Any help on this situation would be most helpful, thank you.

It is unlikely that your employer will continue to make pension contributions.

You really should take advice from a pensions adviser.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf
