  • Unpaid paye back tax can not pay no cash/assets or money at all

Hi I have been notified by the inland revenue that I owe £ 2800 back tax for last few years, I was employed and had a small private income
both of which had a tax deducted by paye. So this is a shock to me, but the amount seems to be correct.
However I am 62 and unemployed with my only income being a private pension of £ 800.00 a month I live alone in a bedsit which costs
me £ 450.00 and after paying utilitys and payday loans I am trying to live on £ 4.00 a day , I have no cash, assets , items of worth at all
I am getting deeper into debt each month. I am trying very hard to get a job and apply for over 50 jobs each week, but because of my
age and because I suffer from chronic migraines on a regular basis I cant get a job .I have tried for any jobs.
    So Question.
Do I just contact the Inland revenue and tell them I cant pay and if I do what happens next ?
Will they insist on taking money from my monthly income because if they do then I will have no option but to live on the street
can they make me do that.
If I get employment of cause I will be able to make a regular monthly payment towards my back tax
I know I should not be in this situation at my but I am and its all my fault

Any help or advice please please.

Has the underpayment resulted from an HMRC error, if so there are ways of having the debt written off.
I recently successfully dealt with a similar situation for my daughter after HMRC issued a wrong coding notice to her employer which resulted in an underpayment of Income Tax
