  • Compensation for damaged credit report

Hi and thanks in advance for any help/advice.
i'll go from the start..so,i ordered a phone from phones4u but accidentally ordered 8gb instead of 16 so returned straight away no problem..I then got a first month bill from orange so called them to explain that I had cancelled this contract, they said phones4u had failed to let them know and I need to contact them and tell them to cancel contract with orange which I did via email.i then got a reply which started off with an apology, they confirmed they had now informed Orange of the cancellation and any money debited will be returned, and also confirmed that all equipment returned.

A couple of years later I get a letter from Lowell saying I owe £380 for non return of equipment and use of phone.so I sent them all the cancellation confirmation letters to which they just kept saying the debt is with orange and I should have sent phone back to orange (which is bull dung)..they went all the way up until a 6 weeks before court date, then I get a letter saying they've discontinued claim.
In my eyes they had no intention of going through with court hearing..the emails I had of cancellation was without doubt enough proof, yet they kept on persisting with it,but because of this showing up on my credit report I have been rejected endless mobile phone contracts, credit cards, store cards..had to settle for a sim only contract in the end!
So I was wondering if I have any right to claim some sort of compensation for all the aggro they've caused?
    thanks again.
