Hi there,
I have today received a letter from Santander regarding a finance agreement I had with them (car finance)
The letter is a notice of sums in arrears for the amount of £5766
The agreement date was in 2013
The first part basically says it has been issued in accordance to the consumer credit act 1974 and relates to the period 07/05/2016 to 14/10/2016
Now the part that confuses me is that in 2014 after realising due to losing my job I would not be able to carry on payments, I had agreed for the car to be repossessed by Anglia UK LTD to which the keys and car was handed over, Anglia UK assured me upon collection that it would be the end of the matter as the cars value would make up the majority of the finance.
I have not heard from Santander until today, I am disputing it as I handed the car back and the amount they are saying is near the full original amount on the finance agreement.
Where do I stand? I have lost all original paperwork, I have phoned Anglia UK to see if they still have records of the repossession of the car and they state it had been too long and the paperwork would've been disposed of.
Am I entitled to ask Santander for copies of the original agreement and what happened to the vehicle or how much it made in auction?
At the minute I am not working and have no assets of value to clear any of the balance, I am not sure what to do at all and there is no time frame on this letter or if it will be defaulted etc
Thank you
