Hi
Please can someone advise me, this is for my boyfriend
He has an issue with his ex landlord who he rented a room off, he will not pay him his deposit back that he owes him:
He moved in on the 1st October 2015 and paid £600 per month, he gave the landlord a months notice from the 15th July so this would mean move out 15th August.
He agreed that he would keep £300 of the deposit to cover the half rent of August, he moved out on the 22nd July and left 3 items of furniture in the room which he collected on the 28th July, the landlord is claiming that he was meant to have moved all items out by the 27th July but he had paid his rent and was entitled to stay until 15th August he is also saying that his car that was parked on another street caused him problems with neighbours, the car was on public road not private land and no connection with the house.
He has no written contract for the rental, I'm not sure that this landlord has proper land lord insurance and declares the rent etc.
My boyfriend is only 20 and needs the deposit back (£300) for his new place.
Please can anyone advise me or help me draft letter to send the guy
Thank you
