  • BPO on behalf of virgin media

Hi, looking for some help and advice please

Just received a letter from BPO collections on behalf of Virgin media for the sum of £70.55, i don't recall having a Virgin media so I called them today and they advised its a debit from December 2010. The letters are going to my parents address as I moved out around 5 years ago and I don't recall having a Virgin account I've always had sky. It's only a small amount but I don't want to pay this

This is the first letter I've ever received regarding this matter.

    What can I do?

    Thank you
    Zain

If you are absolutely certain then I would respond by requesting proof that you owe the debt, letters, account number, the address at which the service was provided etc.

if they tell you the address the service was provided then you can verify whether or not you had it, and if you had sky you can prove that by contacting sky for confirmation of when you had that service.

thank you for getting back to me

They had the right address which was my parents address and they provided me with account numbers to call Virgin media which I've not done yet

I've checked my credit file too and there's nothing at all on there to show missed payments or unpaid account to virgin?

I'm thinking the account must be before the date they are saying. Even if I can provide them with sky details it's still my argument against there's

Well then you need to call virgin and verify whether or not you are the name on the account. If you had Sky at the time and can prove it then there is that element of doubt and that they have the wrong person.

If there is nothing on your credit file then you can also make them aware of that. If it goes to court, ask them to provide the account number and sort code which the payments came out of - again will confirm whether its your account or not. Have you cross checked your bank account with the relevant time and see if payments were made?
