Hi all
I'm new to the forum and looking for some help/advice please!
Today was a great day for me, the last of 7 defaults finally dropped off my credit file and my credit score has gone from poor to excellent, quite literally overnight!
A little over 6 years ago, I entered into a debt management plan, as I'd got myself into a bit of a mess and was getting into more and more debt each month, just to be able to keep my head above water!
I owed around £20k to 7 different creditors (who all defaulted) and as I haven't been paying a huge amount in my DMP (around £110 per month) my outstanding debt still stands at around £11k.
Over the past few months, I've been looking at ways of reducing my debts and I've seen a lot of posts about requesting CCA's and a lot of people having debts written off when companies couldn't provide these.
I'm pretty certain that all of my agreements were prior to 2007. I know for definite that 2 of them have been sold on (1 to Moorcroft Debt Recovery and 1 to IDEM Capital Securities) and I'm pretty sure a few of the others have been sold on too (although I can't guarantee it as I've been rubbish with paperwork), but I know 2 credit card debts (with RBS and Natwest) have never been sold on, as they both send me monthly credit card statements (so presumably they will still be able to produce a CCA).
My initial thought was to send CCA requests to only Moorcroft and IDEM, as I think they're the ones most unlikely to be able to comply, but now I'm wondering if it's worth sending them to all 7 creditors to see what happens?
The main worry I have is that this may prompt further action from any creditor who is able to produce the documentation and I would hate to muck my credit report up again.
Although I wasn't planning on stopping my debt management payment for the time being, so they would still be receiving the agreed payment, I still don't want to risk annoying anyone to the point that they take legal action!
Because I've been so rubbish with paperwork and just kind of buried my head in the sand with it all, I honestly can't even remember who I owed money to in the first place (other than RBS and Natwest).
Where do I go next? Any help/advice/experience greatly appreciated!
Sorry for such a long post and thanks in advance!
