  • Ccj claim/Odd advice from Lowell solicitors

Hi....I hope someone can help me with this. I received a claim form through the post on the behalf of Lowell solicitors for a debt of £250 with Shopdirect. I'm not disputing I owe shop direct this amount.

I received it the 15th Feb 2016 and I know I Can put 5 days on to that so I will have up till the 6th March to respond to the court.

I rang Lowell solicitors today with my intention of paying the whole debt by the 18th March. The girl I spoke to said that was fine and that I didn't have to do anything more now that I had phoned Lowell eg respond to the claim using MCOL. Is this right? I asked her repeatedly about this and she was adamant that because I'd contacted them I would have to do anything else.

I thought that you would have to respond within 14 days otherwise a claim would automatically be issued against you?

    Can someone please help!!!

    Good evening welcome to LB

Are you saying you have not acknowledged service of the claim?

If do so online following the directions on the Form N1 ( Claim Form) other wise you will have a judgement by default.

Once a claim is issued you must observe the court process.

Hi...the Lowell woman said I wouldn't have to acknowledge the claim because I'd phoned them! Is this not right?
